@Fabrice, did you complete the Spanish program? If not, it sounds as if you're quite a ways along. Will you switch over to the upgrade? Just curious.

I finished the program a couple of years ago. I'm at a B2 level (intermediate spanish). I can understand almost all news but when it comes to movies or conversation i can get lost due to accents or slang. I've been alone to many places in south america and was able to have a standard conversation without much effort. After Fluenz I continued with "Coffee Break Spanish" and "Michel Thomas" and hire a couple of tutors on Italki to prepare for my spanish exams. I looked at the upgrade but it didn't add much more for my level.
For Chinese I am "upper basic". I went to China with a friend who didn't speak Chinese back in March and I was able to handle easy conversations about daily stuff like weather, ordering food, getting train tickets, buying things at the markets, giving/getting directions etc.. I am going back to Beijing this december alone in order to dive more into the language. Early in the game I used a tutor for a month in order to get my tones right from the beginning and that was very helpful, I have absolutely no problem with tones now. I finished Fluenz Chinese last year and started with Yoyo Chinese and Domino chinese to continue my learning. I don't know what level will be the new Fluenz Chinese i will take a look when it's done.
Fluenz programs gave me the confidence and the strong foundations that I don't think I would ever have found in other programs, but it shouldn't be the only source of learning.
