For me the best part about taking classes at Alliance Française is that I do get to practice my oral skills. I am still taking classes there btw. They also have activities where you get the opportunity to interact and meet other people as you suggested. The best activity I've participated in was Samedi tout en français. It's where you spend the days speaking only French, playing games, doing role plays etc. That was awesome and it really got me into the mode of thinking in French. The other important thing about classes there, is that you have the opportunity to advance your French education. Fluenz through level 5 takes you to the A2 level of French, which is the Advanced Beginner level. Beyond that level, there are several more verb forms as well as a lot more grammar. Depending on your goals, how far you want to go into your study of French, I believe Alliance Française is the best option.
