Because in english when you reference the infinitive you add "to", and in spanish that "to" doesn't exist, it's not a "to" that indicates movement. In Spanish you indicate the movement by adding "a" after the verb, so you have to say "voy a", "fui a" followed by the spanish infinitive that itself doesn't have a "to" component.
