You haven't cited either a lesson number or an example of a sentence in which these infinitives are used, which would have been helpful. But I'll take a crack at it anyway. The possible reason why some verbs have been conjugated, and not others, is purely a matter of context. "Tomar" and "comer" will most often be used in their infinitive forms. For example, you're in a restaurant, and the waiter asks, "Que quiere comer?" Or "What do you want to eat?" Notice that the verb "querer" is in a conjugated form while the verb "comer" is in its infinitive form. That's simply because that's how you're most likely to hear these verbs in actual usage.
