"Là-bas" doesn't necessarily mean "over there", it can also be just "there".
The difference between "là" and "là-bas" is quite subtle, so they can often be interchangeable, especially if there's no context, like in this example, so here both options would be fine.
When referring to something very close-by though, it's better to use "là", while when referring to a distant place, like a different city or country, then you have to use "là-bas".
