Hi, the conjugated verb forms of "Ir" such as "voy", "vamos" or "van" work in exactly the same way as the infinitive form. So you'll need to use the preposition "a" after the verb "ir" (or the conjugated form) when it is followed by another verb in the infinitive or when it is followed by a noun indicating a place of destination. Some examples:
- Ir A comprar un mapa (we have the infinitive "comprar" after "ir", so you need the preposition)
- Vamos A comprar un mapa (same logic as in the previous example)
- Ir A México ("México" is a place and it is a noun, so you need the preposition)
- Vamos A México (same as the previous example)
- Ir allá (the preposition is not necessary because "allá" is not a verb nor a noun, it is an adverb)
- Vamos allá (same explanation as in previous example)
- Ir juntos (the preposition is not necessary because "juntos" is an adjective, it is not a verb nor a noun indicating a place)
- Vamos juntos (same as in previous example)
I hope this helps!
