Rolling my R's
Hello, I started using the Fluenz Spanish (Spain) program just about a week ago. However, this isn't my first attempt at learning Spanish. I've been very slowly learning with free programs here and there for a couple of years. I've also spent a lot of time in Spain over the last 3 years. Anyways, my concern/question is with rolling my R's. I have been trying for almost 3 years now to roll my R's with the tip of my tongue on the roof of my mouth (behind my front teeth) but I just CANNOT do it. When a word has a single R in it, I've learned to simply place my tongue in that spot and almost pronounce it similar to a D. However, words involving a double R as in "perro" are impossible for me. Being a lifelong English and French speaker (especially in french we roll our R's in the back of our throats) it feels like my tongue will never be able to do it.
Does anyone have any exercises or tips on how I might finally be able to roll my R's like a Spaniard?
I have looked online multiple times and have done many exercises for months and months on end and nothing has worked for me so far.
Any help is appreciated, thank you!
