Non of the Fluenz programs cover the subjunctive in ANY of the Romance languages and it’s not really needed for what the goal of the program is . BTW in spoken Italian the subjunctive is disappearing and it’s mostly only used in its wrttien form ( same thing is happening to spanish ). No language course out there is gonna throw the subjunctive before reaching an intermediate level of fluency, and Fluenz Italian barely gets you to that level .

My impression during several recent trips to Italy is that while use of the subjunctive in spoken Italian is inconsistent, sometimes from region to region, and sometimes from speaker to speaker, it is still very common. A resource that I found to be both useful and entertaining is a little book by Valeria Della Valle and Giuseppe Patota called "Viva Il Congiuntivo." It is in Italian and intended for an Italian audience, but not too difficult to read. They have also written several other books on Italian grammar that I can also recommend.

Thank you. It turns out that I already have that book so I need to dig it out and take another look at it.
