As I understand it, yo quisiera is used when you want to express a desire: "I would like". me gustaria is about how something makes you feel: "It would please me". There is obviously some overlap so there are cases where either will work. "I would like a doughnut" could also be expressed as "a doughnut would please me".

Hi Renee, "me gustaría" and "quisiera" are interchangeable in most cases, the only difference is in questions, where we tend to use the "gustaría" forms. You say "me gustaría" and not "yo gustaría" because the verb "gustar" works in a different way, so just as you say "Me gusta el café", you'd say "Me gustaría un café". Hope this helps!
